The report for the past first quarter of the current financial year brought shareholders Sony only one disappointment - the company reported about 197 million dollars of losses. But for the same period last year, the figures were completely different - about 400 million in income.
Analysts were confident that the quarter for Sony will be unprofitable. But the losses turned out to be much greater than anyone could have imagined.
The reasons for Sony's financial problems lie both in the earthquake in Japan and in the general decline in consumer interest in the company's products. There are too many competitors who offer goods at a more interesting price. Sony is also forced to reduce the cost of its products, which automatically affects not only income, but also quality. Unfortunately, the Japanese company has already ceased to be synonymous with reliability for many consumers.
Caused a lot of problems Sony hackers who hacked many of the company's services and gained access to millions of users' personal data. These attacks showed that with the security of Sony not all is well. Enormous sums were spent on strengthening security, which again affected the results of the quarter.
