Sotheby's celebrates the anniversary of the legendary model.
Sotheby's has unveiled the exclusive "40 for 40" collection, which includes the most valuable and possibly expensive Nike Air Force 1 sneakers.
The 40th Anniversary Edition of the legendary model celebrates its contribution and impact on the global fashion sneaker market over the past decades.
“Today, through hyped collaborations, unparalleled versatility, and ubiquity in popular culture, Air Force 1s continue to be a fan favorite around the world and one of Nike’s all time best selling sneakers,” Sotheby's commented.

The collection includes sneakers from MSCHF, famous for their infernal design, and Jay-Z's pure white 40/40 Club classic, crafted in HTM '07 faux crocodile leather in collaboration with "fragment". Also in “40 for 40” there was a place for a Questlove model with a real elephant print and sneakers, in which LeBron James appeared on “Saturday Night Live”.
The Sotheby's collection also includes several pairs of Fat Joe's Terror Squad AF1s, including a model autographed by the label's CEO. Another gem of the selection is the Nike AF1 Georges Entourage, which appeared in the auction house's catalog at the end of 2021. Its cost is estimated at no less than 15 thousand dollars.
Sotheby's is also bringing back Virgil Abloh's lifetime sneakers from the Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1s collection. To date, the cost of this model in the catalog comes to more than 100 thousand dollars. For several tens of thousands of dollars, connoisseurs will also be offered the Off-White “University Gold” and University Blue AF1 models. For those who did not plan to spend a fortune on sneakers, Sotheby's organized a special exhibition in New York, presenting the public with the most outstanding and rare models.
