The move was an attempt by the fast food chain to win back customers after years of declining sales.
From mid-July restaurants Subway expects the biggest menu change in the chain's history. To elevate the quality of its offerings and keep up with current culinary trends, the chain will offer shoppers a range of new bread recipes, including multi-grain and Italian-style bread recipes, as well as brand new toppings for its famous sandwiches.
In addition to new items on the menu, the network will also “work” on dishes already familiar to customers. For example, turkey and sandwich ham will now be cut into thinner slices, and bacon will be pre-smoked. The menu will also return a couple of forgotten dishes that once liked the guests of establishments, such as chicken cooked on a spit and roast beef.
The restaurant chain has been facing steadily declining sales in recent years due to increased competition in the market, so the menu innovations are designed to jump-start consumer interest and attract a new generation of sandwich lovers to restaurants. The company strives to put special emphasis on the fact that its offers correspond to a healthy lifestyle and the buyer can get a dish that fits into a healthy diet for a small amount. In addition to changes to the menu, the company is also working on improving the convenience of its application, through which customers can place orders for delivery.
In honor of the most significant menu update in the history of the network, Subway will hold a special promotion. Only on July 13, between 10:00 and 12:00, thousands of establishments will distribute sandwiches absolutely free of charge, thus it is planned to distribute about a million dishes. So buyers will be able to try new items and find out about the update that has taken place in the menu.
