Slogan: Way of life!
Like many other car manufacturers, Suzuki Motor Co. Ltd. I started with a completely different product. In this case, from looms.
Founded a company Suzuki Loom Works in 1909 by Michio Suzuki. Then it was a small factory located in the coastal village of Hamamatsu (now it is already a city). The products of this small enterprise quickly managed to reach a high level, surpassing analogues from European competitors. In 1920 the company became known as Suzuki Loom Manufacturing Co.
The idea to produce cars arose in the late 30s. We even made a couple of prototypes. However, the outbreak of war crossed out all these plans. It took more than ten years to return to them.
In 1951, a fundamentally new creation appears - a bicycle equipped with a small engine. The novelty was named power free. The experience turned out to be successful - many poor Japanese willingly acquired this wheeled miracle for themselves. The government even provided Suzuki subsidies to continue and improve production.
With time Suzuki starts mass production of motorcycles. In 1954 the company changed its name to Suzuki Motor Co.,Ltd. A year later, the dream of a car resurfaces. A tiny model appears Suzulight. Small cars (both urban and SUVs - the first was Suzuki Jimny, which appeared in 1968 and is still being produced) have generally become the "calling card" of the company. In Japan, such cars are even referred to as their own class - kei car. This product Suzuki known all over the world, but most of all in India (subsidiary Maruti Suzuki) and neighboring countries (Pakistani Suzuki Motor Company Limited). The company's motorcycles are also universally respected.
But not only cars and motorcycles. Issues Suzuki and trucks, scooters, scooters, ATVs, and outboard motors.
Since 1990 the company has been called Suzuki Motor Corporation. The headquarters is still located in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan (Hamamatsu, Shizuoka, Japan). There is also a museum that has been operating since 2009. Suzuki Plaza.
