The company is opening the doors of its production shop as part of a partnership with Epic Games' Unreal Engine.
The American global manufacturer and retailer of technological outerwear and footwear Timberland is taking a big step into the metaverse by introducing its own virtual design laboratory.
The company is opening the doors of its production floor as part of a collaboration with Epic Games' Unreal Engine and Conceptkicks shoe design platform. In the virtual space, you can get acquainted with the most closed areas of innovation and design of Timberland shoes using 3D technologies.
“Timberland was built on a foundation of footwear innovation, and we’ve brought the collaboration model into the metaverse by inviting innovators to co-create Metaboots with our own designers,” commented Drike Leenknegt, CEO of Timberland.
The metaverse-specific design lab showcased as part of Milan Fashion Week is a real-life re-creation of the brand's innovative space that allows users to explore meta-shoes inspired by arctic, desert and forest biomes, as well as the archetypal yellow Timberland boot.
"Through the usage of Unreal Engine-based tools and virtual worlds, brand enthusiasts have the chance to engage with Timberland boots in ways not possible today," said Raffaella Camera, head of Brands at Unreal Engine, Epic Games.
