The iconic Toyota Supra sports car series is back with the official unveiling of the new 5th generation Toyota Supra A90 at the Detroit Auto Show.
Toyota engineers and designers have made every effort to ensure that the new car is extremely unusual, but at the same time would be reminiscent of previous generations. The design of the novelty is based on the Toyota FT-1 concept car, presented in 2016. As for the technical side, the Supra A90 is unified with the new BMW Z4.
The first Supra models appeared in 1978. Initially, these were, in fact, modified Toyota Celica models (they were called that - Toyota Celica Supra). However, the success of the Supra in the market led to the fact that in 1986 the company decided to separate these cars into a separate series. Until 2002, 4 generations were presented, after which production was curtailed for 17 years. The new 5th generation will go on sale in the summer of 2020, and the top solution with a unique body color will be presented in the amount of only 1,500 copies.
It is important to note that the company intends not only to revive the series, but also to give a new breath to the brand itself. So, the Supra series had its own recognizable logo, which appeared in 1986, after the decision was made to finally separate the Supra from the Celica. It was used until 1991, after which it was decided to replace it with the company logo.

And an important feature of the new 5th generation was the return of the logo. It has changed somewhat, has become more dynamic, although it has remained recognizable. Toyota representatives claim that the font for the new logo was developed from scratch, and the design of the letter “S” was based on the “turn on the Nürburgring race track” (although it is not specified which one).
Well, at one time the brand was quite successful. Let's see how his fate will develop in the modern world.
