If you believe advertising and statistics, then under the brand Trojan the most popular condoms in the USA are produced - about 70% of the market, according to data for 2010 (second place was assigned to Durex).
The story began back in the 19th century when Merle Youngs founded the company Young's Rubber Company, engaged in various rubber ideas. The brand was born a little later - in 1920 (which allows you to use the concept of the very first condoms in America, with almost a century of history) in advertising. Now it is difficult to establish why such a name was chosen, but it seems that if a brand appeared today, no one would dare to give it a name that is associated with malicious software. However, the comparison with the Trojan horse is not much better, which, however, did not prevent the brand from achieving such popularity.
First condoms Trojan made of latex appeared in 1930. The production of these contraceptives has also been improved. To date, there are already several dozen types of these condoms, both male and female.

In 1985 Young's Rubber Company was taken over by a drug manufacturer Carter-Wallace Inc.. And since 2001, the brand Trojan belongs Church & Dwight Company. But all these changes in no way affected the popularity of condoms - most consumers are indifferent to all these marketing subtleties, they are much more important than the quality of the purchased products.
Interesting fact:
On March 3, 1873, the so-called Comstock Law (The Comstock Law or Comstock Act) was passed in the United States, which prohibited the advertising of any contraceptives. It was also forbidden to distribute any information about abortion. Any materials that could be regarded as "lewd, obscene and lustful" were subjected to no less persecution. For this reason, condoms Trojan historically advertised solely as a remedy for sexually transmitted diseases. Moreover, the first serious advertisement was published only seven years after the appearance of condoms - in 1927, and even then only in specialized pharmaceutical journals. In the future, it was possible to defend the right to place advertisements in pharmacies. This is what gave Trojan such a huge advantage over competitors.
These days, any restrictions on advertising have been lifted (within reason). condoms Trojan are advertised not only as protection, but also as a contraceptive and as a way to improve the quality of sexual intercourse. Some journalists jokingly dubbed the fight between the manufacturer and the officials "the other Trojan Wars."
