Sound recording studio EMI, which published albums of such celebrities as Pink Floyd, The Beatles и cold play, will be absorbed Universal Music Group, which already owns such a well-known music label as Universal Music.
For the first time about the desire to devour EMI announced in October this year. An agreement was reached quickly. The deal will amount to almost two billion US dollars. Will there be any restructuring EMI as yet unknown. Most likely yes, since the banking group Citigroup, previous owner EMI, went for such a deal in light of the label's unprofitability (this is also one of the reasons for such quick negotiations).
To date EMI one of the four largest music labels, along with Sony Music, Warner Music и Universal Music. This "big four" owns at least 80% from the entire music market.
This is not the first time EMI has changed ownership this year. Until then, February 1st Citigroup bought the label from Terra Firma.
