A French food retailer has decided on an unusual experiment.
In one of the supermarkets in Warsaw robots appeared to offer customers products of food giant PepsiCo. In an effort to offer its customers a more interesting shopping experience, Carrefour began testing real robots that move around the store, offering customers Pepsi sodas and Lays chips.
“We want to make the shopping experience for consumers of our products more interesting and put a smile on consumers’ lips,” commented PepsiCo Poland Account Manager Mariusz Janiec.
The robots are equipped with sensors that allow them to stop near customers and avoid obstacles. In fact, the robots act as displays moving around the hall, advertising PepsiCo products and attracting customers' attention.
PepsiCo and Carrefour note that in the near future robots will be very much in demand in the retail trade - the devices can not only advertise products, but also check the availability of goods, conduct surveys and prompt the way customers.
