The Avatar Store will feature luxury clothing collections.
The Avatar Store, launched on Meta*, will feature virtual collections from luxury brands Balenciaga, Prada and Thom Browne. The announcement was made by Mark Zuckerberg and Eva Chen, Instagram's* vice president of fashion partnerships.
The service, which Zuckerberg called "a clothing store for your Meta avatar," will be launched through Facebook*, Instagram* and Messenger* by the end of June.
The Avatar Store will feature some free clothing options from iconic brands, but most of the virtual avatar items will cost a lot.
Even though the fashion for designer items in the metaverse has spread quite a bit a while ago, the products are still not featured on Facebook* and Instagram*. “We expect to bring the Avatars Store to VR and introduce more brands soon,” commented Meta*.

The company expanded on avatar earlier this year when it partnered with the NFL to create digital jerseys for the Super Bowl. The launch of partnerships with Balenciaga, Prada and other luxury brands will be an important new step for the company in expanding the fashion direction of the metaverse.
*Meta, which owns Facebook*, Instagram* and Messenger*, has been declared extremist in Russia.
