Talk about the new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray has been going on for more than 3 years. And finally, the new model was presented officially.
To say that the new product is different from previous generations is to say nothing. The Corvette concept itself has been revised. First of all, we have a mid-engined coupe equipped with a 6.2-liter V8 engine with 490 hp, which allows us to accelerate to 100 km / h in less than 3 seconds. There will no longer be a version with a manual transmission, but the possibility of a hybrid version is not excluded (the possibility of releasing an all-electric model is still being considered). It is important that the developers managed to preserve the recognizable appearance of the Corvette, while at the same time making the car completely original.
In general, consumers expect a lot of new things. Thus, the C8 will be the first Corvette to also have a right-hand drive model. That is, the novelty will become global and will be available in markets like the UK, Japan and Australia. True, the date of the appearance of the right-hand Corvette on sale is still unknown.
Interestingly, the manufacturer paid a lot of attention to the technologies inside the cabin (by the way, the cabin itself was completely revised and now looks more like a fighter cockpit). Drivers benefit from a fully digital instrument cluster, as well as a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. Support for Bluetooth and NFC is provided, and there is a place for wireless charging between the seats. Also, the driver can now record the passage of the track on video with FullHD resolution, comparing the performance of the passage with the previous ones.
As for the cost, the base version of the C8 will be sold for no more than 60K. I.e traditional Corvette will be more affordable than mid-engine competitors from Europe. The full list of possible options is not yet known. Surely it will be a higher power engine, adaptive suspension, improved optics, seats of different designs, etc.
The car will go on sale next year. Pre-orders have already started in the US. Nothing is known about the possibility of the appearance of the Corvette Stingray in Russia.
