Tagline: For those who got the knack
Velkopopovitsky Goat - the famous Czech brand of beer, which is produced by the British company SABMiller, one of the largest brewing companies in the world. The beer got its name from the name of the small Czech town of Velké Popovice, where the main brewery producing this variety is located. Main beers: Světlý, Černý, Premium and Medium.
Beer Velkopopovitsky Goat produced since 1874, although the first mention of the city brewery dates back to the 16th century. The brewery owes its modern history to Frantisek Ringhoffer, mayor of Smichov, who acquired property in Popovice and built a modern brewery here, equipped with the latest technology at that time.

The emblem of beer, according to legend, was painted by a French artist who drove past the city at the end of the 19th century, but lingered, subdued by the hospitality and warm welcome of the townspeople. However, perhaps everything was not so poetic and the artist simply loved beer, and there was nothing to pay except for his work. For employees and owners of the brewery, the Velkopopovicky Goat is not just a funny name, a goat actually lives on the territory of the brewery. The live talisman of the brewery pleases tourists and cheerfully nibbles grass, the goat traditionally bears the name of Old. A few years ago, another goat was purchased, as it was not thought to be called for long - he became Olda the Second.
The brewery developed rapidly, beer Velkopopovitsky Goat became one of the most popular Czech beers. Production survived both the First and Second World Wars, having managed, after significant declines, to resume work and achieve the same results. In 1945, the company passes into state ownership. In 1992, the brewery becomes a joint-stock company. It has been owned by the company since 1995. Radegast Brewery, which, in turn, a few years later merged with the plant Plzeňsky Prazdroj. In the same year, the owner of the companies becomes South African Breweries, which in 2002 merges with Miller Brewingto form today's brand owner, the company SABMiller.
