A company famous for its exceptionally expensive mobile phones. Such luxury models are designed, first of all, to emphasize the status of their owner - after all, the cost of the cheapest one only starts from several thousand dollars. Technically, these devices usually lag behind their conventional counterparts (the first “advanced” model appeared only in 2009). It is understood that a person who is able to purchase such a luxurious accessory does not need add-ons like Wi-Fi or GPS.
When mobile phones were just beginning their victorious march around the world, the possession of any model was prestigious. But that was only the first time. Gradually, mobile phones penetrated all sectors of society and ceased to be a luxury. But to stand out from the crowd oh how I wanted ...
In 1997, a group of engineers Nokia offers the company's management a fundamentally new approach, namely, to create a phone using expensive and precious materials. The idea was not new - many users already had experience with jewelers who adorned serial phone cases with jewels. But Nokia first approached this issue professionally.
The idea was approved and already in 1998 a subsidiary company was founded, called Vertu. Translated from French, the word "vertu" means "virtue, dignity". In English, the same meaning has a similar word virtual. But in German there is a very similar sounding verb "vertun", which translates as "to waste"which subsequently gave rise to many caustic jokes.

In 1999, the concept of what future models should be was fully developed. The work did not move too fast - new materials, new concepts were tested. The very first telephone (the ancestor of the collection Signature) was officially introduced on January 21, 2002. The second collection Ascent introduced two years later. To date, there are several main collections, and truly unique and exclusive models are periodically presented in small editions.
Technically new devices were ordinary serial phones Nokia. The main emphasis was on the design - titanium cases, precious stones, cermets, leather ... The most expensive serial model Vertu costs about 90 thousand euros. The most expensive exclusive model is more than 320 thousand euros. All phones Vertu - manual assembly. A phone case can be made up of nearly a thousand individual pieces, most of which are made using special techniques. Nevertheless, Vertu is not just a serial phone sprinkled with “bryuliks”.
A lot of attention was paid to the quality of sound transmission. Speech must be transmitted clearly and without interference. Special speakers have even been developed, specially tuned to the frequency range of the human ear. The logo is applied in such a way that it is almost impossible to damage it. The company is especially proud of the keys that are pressed with a special characteristic "click". Like phones Nokia, y Vertu has its own unique ringtone.
By the way, historically, all phones Vertu were monoblocks. The first "clamshell" of the company appeared only in 2009.
Today, Vertu is one of the most famous companies producing such products. Its main competitors are companies such as Gresso, Mobiado, TAGHeuer.
Since 2000, the company has been headquartered in Church Crookham, Hampshire, United Kingdom. Representations are scattered all over the world. As a subsidiary, Vertu relatively independent of NokiaA: It has its own management, its own engineers and production facilities.
