The logo, chosen in 1997, a scarlet quotation mark in a white circle, welcomes communication by opening and closing direct speech in the letters "O" of the name.
The company has always strived to stay at the forefront of innovation in the mobile world. In 1999, the company buys an American AirTouch Communications Inc. - the largest mobile operator, gaining a strong foothold in the United States. In 2000 Vodafone Air Touch PLC (the new name of the combined company) doubles its assets by taking over Mannesmann AG, a German diversified concern, the deal became the largest in the world at that time, turned the entire disposition of the mobile communications market and brought Vodafone undisputed leaders for several years to come. With assets to develop both digital and analog communications at this moment Vodafone completely abandons analog telephony, focusing on the development of mobile networks, anticipating the slow death of stationary devices and networks.
Over the two decades of its existence Vodafone from the largest company in the UK is turning into a global multinational giant, entering the markets of Europe, America, the CIS, Africa, the Middle East, and the Asia-Pacific region. The company owns assets in 27 countries around the world and has entered into partnership agreements with local mobile operators in more than forty countries.
Vodafone provides partner companies with significant discounts on the purchase of equipment, phones, the opportunity to use their marketing experience, in turn, gaining a presence in a new market for themselves without huge capital investments. To whom such cooperation is more beneficial is a moot point. There is a vague suspicion that the winner still remains Vodafone.
To the CIS market the company Vodafone came out in 2008 announcing cooperation with the MTS group of companies.
