Design studio Form Us With Love designed a genuine "sofa of the future" for the South Korean brand Samsung. The Shift project shows how our furniture will adapt to new ways of watching TV at home.
An unusual sofa was presented at the current Design Week in Stockholm. The project's authors tried to imagine how the couch would look on the horizon of ten to fifteen years.
"The starting point of this project was the fact that if the couch worked for so many of the needs and occasions, we use our TV for, wouldn't the entire viewing experience improve?" - Samsung commented.
The prototype was designed to be able to move around the house following the TV. In addition, Shift's hammock-like and spider-like structures are able to adjust to any posture and position of the human body.
The designers of Form Us With Love noted that the project's goal was to create something flexible in placement and ways of use with an eye toward a future that "we know nothing about."
