An institution in the center of Madrid will be open for fans of plant food for a month.
American fast food restaurant chain Burger King has opened an unusual restaurant in Madrid. This is a pop-up restaurant that specializes exclusively in vegetarian burgers and nuggets.
According to the Green Queen portal, a restaurant called Vurger King has opened in the center of the Spanish capital on Paseo del Prado. The establishment will be open to fans of plant foods for a month.
The restaurant is decorated in characteristic green tones. The project partner is the Dutch brand The Vegetarian Butcher, which specializes in the supply of vegetable meat to restaurants.
The menu of the world's first Vurger King features plant-based whoppers, as well as plant-based chicken nuggets and a new take on the Long Vegetal sandwich.
Experts note that the restaurant is positioned not as a vegan, but as a vegetarian - the menu includes dishes that are prepared using mayonnaise. However, when ordering, you may not want to add sauce.
“We want to appeal to both plant-based dieters and those who eat meat but want to reduce their consumption,” said Borja Hernandez de Alba, director of Burger King in Spain and Portugal.
The main audience of the new restaurant may be the so-called flexiterians. In Spain, the philosophy of partial rejection of meat is gaining more and more popularity. Flexitarianism allows the consumption of meat, but does not completely exclude it from the diet. According to the latest data, over 40% consumers in the world today identify themselves as flexitarians, reducing meat consumption for various reasons.
