We are currently working on the logos. Products under these brands are expected to be on sale as early as January 1, 2021, just as the law on products with improved environmental performance comes into force.
In the same year, these goods can be exported. There are suggestions that The Green One can become quite popular and well-known brand in the international market. Especially against the background of growth popularity of Made in Russia brands and Good Food Russia in Europe and East Asia, as well as in the Middle East.
In February 2019, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the development of a Russian protected brand for eco-products. Under it, goods will be produced exclusively using technologies that are safe for the environment and human health. At the same time, we are talking not only about the production of the products themselves, but also agricultural products and raw materials for them. For example, higher quality fertilizers and feed will be used. And no genetic engineering.
Attention will also be paid to what kind of food additives and dyes are used and in what volumes. In addition, such products should be stored separately from the usual. In other words, in order to be able to produce food products under the Green Standard brand, manufacturers will need to fulfill a number of rather stringent requirements. Only after that they will be able to get into the federal register and get the right to put the appropriate logo on their products.
Naturally, the cost of such products will be 25-30% higher compared to conventional ones. There are concerns that this may become an obstacle to the mass distribution of Green Standard products within the country.
