Buyers of the new Zara line will be given the opportunity to embroider their favorite words for free.
Leading Spanish retail chain Zara, the flagship brand of the Inditex Group, has announced the launch of a clothing personalization service following the example of Levi's and Nike. Last week, Zara introduced a new clothing collection that allows its customers to get creative with their chosen product and personalize it with their own word or phrase up to eleven characters long.
Buyers of the new Zara line will be given the opportunity to embroider their favorite words in 13 presented designs on any part of the selected garment for free. As part of the pilot project, the embroidery option is only available in six different colors. In the first stage of the service, the service of applying embroidery with text is available on nine models of the youth clothing line Trafaluc - from shorts to jackets and raincoats.
The cost of the clothing items included in the offer ranges from 20 to 40 euros. At the same time, Zara compiled a list of words that, in the company's opinion, are considered offensive - in total, about 1,000 "controversial" words and expressions were banned.
It will be possible to try out the new service from March 27, 2019 in three flagship Zara stores — in Amsterdam, Barcelona and Milan. The service will also be launched for online shoppers in online stores in the UK, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain. Personalized embroidery for Zara online shoppers will be applied at a factory in Guadalajara. If the new service receives positive feedback from customers, Zara will scale up the project and offer new options for clothing customization.
