Company portable media player Microsoft. Starting from the very first model, these devices are able to work with a wide variety of media content - music, video and photos.
The first model was the Zune 30, introduced in November 2006. It was a device with a 30 GB hard drive and a 3-inch screen. The player was produced in three colors - black, white and brown (which immediately gave rise to many not the most harmless jokes). In the future, however, there were exclusive versions of other colors, very limited editions. Moreover, they were packed in ordinary packages and did not stand out in any way. Buyer could choose white Zuneand end up with pink. He was supposed to be extremely proud of it. Later, the red color also became “official”.

launch Zune was accompanied by a loud advertising campaign. Steve Ballmer even pathetically announced the beginning of the media revolution. Zune was presented as an exceptionally innovative device that even the notorious Apple iPhone, especially against the background of the fact that technically the player is from Microsoft where "advance". But the miracle didn't happen. Instead of the expected thousands, only a few dozen devices were sold in the first weeks of sales. For several years, only a few percent of the US market was won. It took more than six months to reach the first million, and more than a year and a half for two. The revolution obviously did not take place.
To my credit Microsoft it must be said that the first failure did not discourage the company. New versions of the player are constantly appearing, a store has opened Zune Marketplace - analogue iTunes Store. There were fans for Zune - photos of a person who made himself a tattoo with the player's logo somehow appeared on the Internet (according to some sources, he later regretted it, disappointed in his favorite). However, the main goal is to replace iPod - has not yet been achieved. The result was a complete abandonment of the production of such devices in 2011.
