During the IFA 2019 exhibition, LG may introduce a smartphone with three screens.
LG Electronics Co. presented a promotional video with an invitation to the presentation of new devices, which will be held during the IFA 2019 exhibition scheduled for early September in Berlin. The 20-second video shows a game created in a retro style, during which the character is taken to the second screen of the device. Finally, the device closes to reveal a third, smaller screen that displays the time and date of LG's presentation.
It is not yet clear what exactly the video is hinting at. Whether we are talking about a smartphone with three screens or just an accessory with an additional two screens that can be connected to a regular smartphone. The concept is very similar to the LG V50 ThinQ smartphone accessory that LG showed off earlier this year at MWC. The case was equipped with a 6.2-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 2160x1080 pixels. However, such an accessory never went on sale. In addition, that accessory did not have a small external screen.
There are suggestions that we are being hinted at the presentation of an accessory for a potential V60 Thin model. However, there is also an opinion that the company simply improved the existing experience for the V50 ThinQ, providing it with an additional screen. And finally, there is an idea that the company can introduce a new model of a smartphone equipped with three screens at once.
The video contains a minimum of information and was clearly specially designed to tease the audience. What exactly the company is going to present to us, we will be able to find out only on September 6, on the opening day of the exhibition. Until then, one can only guess and speculate.
