Due to the impossibility of presenting new models in the usual format, automakers are looking for other ways to demonstrate new products.
Initially, it was clear that the presentation of Mitsubishi Outlander 2022 will be held online. However, the Japanese manufacturer decided not to limit itself to simply showing "live" video, but entered into a contract with the interactive platform Amazon Live, created to demonstrate and discuss products. This is the first time the service will be used to showcase a car, instead of traditional home or body products, electronics or food. Cooperation with Mitsubishi will allow Amazon demonstrate that its platform is also suitable for selling much more expensive and large goods.
The presentation will take place on February 16 at 18:00 ET. To inform about it, the companies jointly filmed a teaser, which shows the house, with a huge cardboard box delivered to the entrance. The Mitsubishi logo applied to it immediately makes it clear that inside is nothing more than a car.
Potential buyers will not be able to use the platform to buy a car. The purpose of the action is to familiarize consumers with the novelty. Mitsubishi will also enter the new Outlander as the top prize in a lottery draw between February 16 and March 31.
While Mitsubishi was the first company to choose to feature a car on Amazon Live, the idea of using streaming in this way is not new. So, in January, Lexus took advantage of Twitch, a service popular among gamers (by the way, it is owned by Amazon) to present the latest model of the IS sedan in 2021. Then a 2-hour presentation of the novelty was held by streamer Fuslie.
