As part of the project, Skechers uses advances in rubber production in custom soles for sneakers.
What, at first glance, can snickers and car tires have in common? American lifestyle shoe brand Skechers has partnered with tire manufacturer Goodyear to create the first collaboration. As part of the project, Skechers is using advances in rubber manufacturing in custom sneaker soles. Select models that have been reimagined through a partnership with Goodyear will feature better traction, stability and durability.
Tested on three running shoes, Goodyear Performance Outsoles technology will be included in a wider range. In 2020, Skechers will use it to create new soles for sneakers in men's, women's and children's collections in both sports and lifestyle styles.
The Goodyear Performance Outsoles, developed by the tire company, use a special polymer technology containing sustainable soybean oil. The resulting material provides long-term durability, increased traction on a variety of surfaces and weather conditions, and improved stability through traction.
“This collaboration is an example of bringing together two proven brands to create a high-tech product that truly benefits our consumer,” said Skechers President Michael Greenberg. "Working together, select products will feature Goodyear Performance Outsoles, providing added stability where it's needed most - whether it's increased running stability, superior traction on slippery surfaces, or durability on the playground under tough conditions."
