The Japanese division of the company decided to provide visitors to its establishments with the opportunity not only to drink a cup of coffee, but also to work comfortably.
Coffee houses Starbucks people have long and willingly been used, not only as a place where you can have a cup of coffee, but also as a kind of workspace where you can spend time productively with a notepad or laptop. For a while the company even tried to fight it, but then decided that it would be more correct, on the contrary, to provide people with more comfortable conditions, which would give them a reason to come more often and order more. Coffee houses around the world have even begun to equip with more outlets and more comfortable places to work.
But in Japan, Starbucks management went even further, deciding to open a full-fledged co-working space, the main feature of which will be the opportunity to order a cup of the famous coffee and various snacks for it. The experimental space was named Smart Lounge. Experts from the consulting company Think Lab Co worked on his idea.
The co-working cafe is located in Tokyo's Ginze district, which is known for its shopping activity. It provides meeting places, separate tables and individual booths. If necessary, the visitor can even book a place in advance.
Smart Lounge is an experimental establishment. And it depends on how successful this format will be whether Starbucks will open such co-working spaces. Given how popular the remote work format has become today, there is a high probability that co-working cafes will appear in other countries.
