German sports brand Adidas announced the creation of an NFT clothing collection for the metaverse and invited its customers to become members of the fan club on an exclusive basis. The owner of the NFT, the company promises a unique merch, as well as the right to vote in the choice of new products and experiences, writes The Verge.
“Adidas is in the metaverse and we want to figure out what will be the coolest thing in this space to start engaging the communities we are activating through NFT and expressing ourselves in the virtual world,” commented Tarek Nazlawi, Adidas Senior Director of Digital Development. .
Earlier it became known that Adidas issued digital tokens, the owners of which will have access to the brand's NFT drops before anyone else. In early December, cryptic posts about the metaverse also began to appear on the brand's Twitter account.
It is known that 1 Adidas NFT will cost 0.2 ETH, which is equivalent to $800. The total number of NFNs issued by the company is not disclosed for security reasons.
The company stressed that NFT owners will have access to both digital and real Adidas products. This includes an Indigo tracksuit, bitcoin wallet address hoodie and orange beanie created in partnership with Bored Ape Yacht Club, Punks Comics and GMoney.
“There will be other experiences that we are preparing. The idea is that you belong to a community and we will increase its value over time. The club will evolve as we learn more about its members and how they change and evolve,” said Erica Wykes-Sneid, vice president of marketing for Adidas Originals.
