Mattel will launch SpaceX-inspired toys under its iconic Matchbox brand.
The American company Mattel, one of the world's largest manufacturers of children's toys, announced the signing of a multi-year agreement with Elon Musk's SpaceX. The partnership will create space-themed toys for children and items for collectors.
“In 2023, Mattel will begin releasing SpaceX-inspired toys under its iconic Matchbox brand. Simultaneously, astro-inspired collectibles will start to debut on Mattel Creations, Mattel’s collaboration and direct-to-consumer platform,” the company’s press service commented.
“At SpaceX, we believe that a future in which humanity is out among the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one in which we are not,” said Brian Bjelde, vice president of SpaceX.
Nick Karamanos, SVP of Mattel Entertainment Partnerships, said the company prides itself on its ability to create products and experiences that "honor cultural moments and inspire humanity."
SpaceX also noted that through a large-scale collaboration with Mattel, they expect to "inspire the next generation of space explorers and enthusiasts."
SpaceX specializes in the production of space technology and creates the Falcon 1, Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy launch vehicles, as well as Dragon spacecraft, and also performs space missions in conjunction with NASA.
