Today Microsoft officially announced that all paper procedures for the acquisition Skype have been completed. Now nothing prevents the completion of the takeover procedure.
Microsoft announced its intention to buy Skype back in May 2011. The boards of directors of both companies expressed their consent. However, it took another half a year to complete all the paperwork and prepare everything necessary to complete the deal, which amounted to 8.5 billion US dollars.
From now on Skype will exist as a division Microsoft. However, this will not affect the company's offices or its employees in any way. It was promised that this would not be displayed on telephony services either (unless there would be more advertising in the program). Also, nothing will happen to versions of the software for alternative operating systems, such as MacOS and Linux. In the future, close integration of all services is planned.
