The 11 Honoré brand has raised $10 million in investments from American department store chain Nordstrom.
11 Honoré is an online retailer of plus size luxury clothing. The main idea of this undertaking was that the plus-size segment of the plus-size fashion market for women is still practically not covered by manufacturers. Most upscale clothing retailers have focused on a limited set of sizes, and only in these sizes can buyers count on the services of a personal stylist. 11 Honoré intends to change this approach and show that clothes from the best designers in the world can also be made for plus size women.
Nordstrom became one of the investors in this fast growing brand. The investments raised will be used to develop the personal styling service that 11 Honoré offers to its clients, as well as to further expand the range to include even more offered sizes and create new brands. In addition to the investment, Nordstrom will also host 11 Honoré fashion shows in its department stores in several US cities.
11 Honoré was founded two years ago and showed its first collection this year at New York Fashion Week. It is one of the brands that are creating a new market for high-end clothing for plus size women today. And as the growing number of investments in this and other similar startups shows, this market segment promises to become profitable and develop in the coming years at a very active pace. Needless to say, the market is already literally demands from fashion companies increasing the number of sizes.
