When creating perfumes, the latest and sophisticated technologies were involved, to match those used in F1 cars.
Perfume will be released in a limited series and differ from each other not only in smells, but also in the shape of the bottle. Customers can choose from five unisex fragrances created by three different German and Swiss fragrance manufacturers - Symrise, Firmenich and Givaudan. The perfume premiered at Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2019.
As for the main thing - the design of the bottles - there are only three of them: Fluid Symmetry, Compact Suspension and Agile Embrace. It took several years to develop the appearance of perfumes. Celebrated British designer Ross Lovegrove, who created it, once again used his favorite combination of high technology and organic forms. He immediately abandoned the obvious, but banal idea of simply copying the shape of the F1 car, deciding to express it metaphorically.
The result is something truly unique, sophisticated and high-tech at the same time. The glass flask with perfume resembles the monocoque of an F1 car, surrounded by an exoskeleton of a complex shape - a fragile driver in a reliable case. At the same time, the bottle of Agile Embrace also boasts 22 carat gold plating and gemstone decoration. By the way, it also has the most sophisticated form, hidden under the "turbulent flows".
But these bottles are interesting not only for their very unusual design, but also for the fact that they were made using titanium 3D printing (stainless steel was used for Compact Suspension). Yes, it could not be otherwise, since it is simply unrealistic to create such a complex sculptural form filled with emotions in a different way. Previously, titanium printing technology was used almost exclusively in the aerospace industry. Titanium was chosen as a material that matches the spirit of F1 - very light, but also very strong.
Making a bottle for each fragrance takes a lot of time. So, the creation of the lightest Fluid Symmetry (290 grams) takes 15 hours. Compact Suspension (550 grams) - 35 hours. And for the heaviest Agile Embrace (860 grams) it takes 24 hours.
After everything described above, the cost of one bottle, which is 10,000 dollars, no longer seems excessive. After all, the consumer acquires not just perfume, but a real work of art. It is almost impossible to fake, because for this you need to have the appropriate technology. Lovegrove is sure that when the perfume runs out, buyers will definitely guard the bottles like a beautiful sculpture.
Perfumes are already available for sale. In 2019, 20 numbered bottles of each design will be released. Then, in March 2020, during the Australian Grand Prix, sales of another small batch will start. But the bottles included in it will be made of simpler materials (also involve 3D printing), their cost will already be $ 250.
