Sony Honda Mobility has scheduled deliveries of the first all-electric car model in the United States in the second half of 2026, while sales in Japan will begin a little earlier in the spring. The timing of the supply of electric vehicles to European markets has not yet been determined.
The first model of Sony x Honda will be produced at Honda's US facility, and Sony will develop the third level autonomous driving system and related sensors. The technology will be used to enable self-propelled electric vehicles. Sony will also offer customers a monthly subscription to innovative services and entertainment services.
Sony and Honda announced a joint venture in September 2022. The company with an authorized capital of $68 million was formed on a parity basis. With the implementation of the project, Sony and Honda expect to strengthen their position in the electric vehicle market.
