Prada will open an authorized flagship online store on the JD.com platform.
Italian fashion house Prada Group, one of the world's largest sellers of luxury goods, announced a partnership agreement with China's JD.com, which develops a number of projects in the e-commerce and e-commerce segment. In accordance with the signed agreement, Prada will open an authorized flagship online store on the JD.com platform. The deal brings to fruition the fashion group's plans to establish an online presence for all of its brands on one of the world's largest digital marketplaces by the end of 2019.
The new online flagship, the launch of which is part of the Prada Group's development strategy in the Chinese market, will be presented to buyers from the Celestial collection of the Autumn-Winter 2019-2020 season. The deal will also open official online stores for Prada brands Miu Miu and Car Shoe on JD.com.
“Prada is synonymous with the highest taste in fashion and luxury around the world, and I am honored to welcome them to our online platform,” said Kevin Jiang, President, International Business, Fashion & Lifestyle, JD.com. "International brands are increasingly recognizing the power of JD in expanding into China's growing luxury market, and we look forward to helping Prada connect with sophisticated Chinese consumers."
Global fashion platform Farfetch also launched its flagship store on JD.com in June 2019, shortly after merging its Chinese division with JD.com-owned luxury retailer Toplife. Through the deal, Farfetch was able to introduce its products to the platform's audience of more than 300 million customers.
