Audi has unveiled its most compact urban SUV, the Audi A1 Citycarver.
The Citycarver is based on the A1 Sportback hatchback. The shapes and design remained recognizable, but at the same time, the manufacturer increased the ground clearance by almost 40 mm (mainly due to the suspension, although 16-inch wheels also add a little height), and also equipped the car with plastic protection around the perimeter. The increased ground clearance also means that getting into the car will be more comfortable and visibility will improve.
Despite the length of 4 meters, the novelty has a spacious interior and a roomy trunk. Buyers will be able to choose between a variety of interior trim options, including the use of leatherette, fabric or Alcantara combinations. Drivers will also get an advanced 10.1-inch infotainment system with voice control and a Bang & Olufsen surround sound audio system – yet the car is positioned as a youth car. As for the exterior design, 9 body color options will be available.
Regarding the engine, exact information is not yet available. There are suggestions that it will be possible to choose between solutions with power from 98 hp. up to 200 hp At the same time, both a mechanical version and one equipped with a 7-speed robotic transmission will be available.
Audi claimsthat it will be a great car to drive - in the city, on country roads, highways, and even off-road, not too serious. However, despite the muscular contours of the novelty, its future owners should not get too carried away with experiments with driving over rough terrain.
On sale Citycarver should appear towards the end of this year, but it will be possible to pre-order in August. Consumers will be offered a wide range of different options.
