The information that appeared today on the Web is quite unusual - according to the analytical company iSuppli, Apple came out on top in the world in terms of the volume of purchased semiconductors, ahead of even such giants as HP и Samsung.
And there was a real leap: the fact is that having paid $ 17.5 billion for semiconductors in 2010, Apple spent as much as 80: more than last year. Basically, all purchased components went to portable devices running iOS, mainly iPad 2. And only 40% of them went to computers, including both desktops and laptops.
However, this is not the limit. iSuppli believes that another record will be set this year - there will again be an abrupt increase in the volume of purchases, which will lead to costs of about $ 22.5 billion.
As for Hewlett Packard и Samsung, they came in second and third respectively, with costs of $15.2 and $13.9 billion. This is not much different from the figures for 2009.
