The French fashion house has announced the release of its own beauty line.
French fashion house Hermès, which specializes in the production of luxury clothing and accessories, has announced the launch of its own beauty line, which will include decorative cosmetics and care products. The launch of a new line of business as part of a strategy to develop additional growth channels is scheduled for 2020.
“In the long term, we will need to be present in three segments of the beauty sector: perfumes, care products and color cosmetics. This will give us enough presence in different distribution channels,” commented Axel Dumas, CEO of Hermès.
Information about the launch of a new line, as well as the timing of the start of production of goods for the beauty direction of the fashion house, was confirmed by the deputy director of the company, Guillaume de Seine, at the exhibition “Hermès hors les murs” held in Paris.
The fashion house Hermès began its activity in 1837 as a manufacturer of equipment for carriages and riding. Since the 1950s, the company's logo has featured a horse-drawn carriage. The perfume history of the brand began in 1951, when the head of the company, Robert Dumas, decided to expand the company's production and start producing exclusive fragrances for women and men.
Starting in 2014, as part of a business restructuring program, Hermès launched the production of home fragrances and took a new step towards the beauty line with the release of Le Bain Hermès bath and body cosmetics. As of the beginning of 2019, the Hermès Parfums division generates about 5% of total revenue for the company. The company's revenue in 2018, according to analysts, exceeded the mark of 300 million euros.
