A new device called Dyson Zone is promised to go on sale in the fall of 2022.
British manufacturer of innovative consumer electronics Dyson introduced the first headphones with a built-in air purifier. The device is equipped with a special built-in mask, which uses new technologies of oxygen filtration with the help of compressors.
The device is hidden inside volumetric earpieces that direct purified air into a special space above your nose and mouth. Dyson Zone is equipped with noise reduction technology and allows you to enjoy clear sound and take calls while filtering the air. According to the claimed specifications, the device is capable of filtering 99% particles as small as 0.1 micron.
Wearable product development manager Tom Bennett says that the Zone successfully filters dust and bacteria, and - not unimportant in today's era - "quite effectively" removes viruses.
Dyson's focus on air pollution was laid a couple of decades ago. The company also invested in cyclone filters for displacement engines, and even in the production of its own electric cars. Today, 25 years after the fact, Dyson is once again trying to challenge the problem of urban pollution. Although creating headphones was not the primary goal of the new project, the company's engineers looked at all the possible uses of the air filter as a wearable device.
"We looked at all the options on the shoulder, on the neck, on the head and settled on headphones because they are the natural, known way to wear the device, besides, because of the weight distribution and center of gravity, the product is really stable on the head," commented Bennett.
The cups of the new technology headphones are designed to fit as closely as possible to the size of the head, and the visor of the device can be bent to fit the shape of the face. When air is directed up the nose, the mesh cap on the visor softens the flow - so it feels like the person is breathing from their own personal "air pocket.
A new device called Dyson Zone is promised to go on sale in the fall of 2022. The cost of the device is still a secret.
