The intention of Ford to introduce an electric crossover was known back in 2018. Now the car has been officially presented.
Whether by mistake, or maybe on purpose, the company presented the technical specifications of the electric car, dubbed the Mustang Mach-E, a few days before the presentation. However, this did not prevent the event from attracting close attention of journalists from all over the world. By the way, the presentation was held near the headquarters of SpaceX, which gave it an extra charm.
For the first time in the legendary Mustang family a five-door crossover appears, and even an electric one. The novelty is able to overcome up to 480 km on a single battery charge, while acceleration to 100 km / h will occur in 3.5 seconds (for the top version). Fast charging is supported - 10 minutes is enough to overcome subsequently 75 km. As for power, three variations will be available to consumers: 255 hp, 282 hp. or 332 hp In this case, the older version will be all-wheel drive, one electric motor for each axle.
The interior design is simple, but journalists who have already tried the Mach-E during the presentation note that the cabin is very spacious and comfortable. In the best traditions of modern electric vehicles, the role of the dashboard is assigned to the screen. Plus a massive 15.5-inch screen for Ford's SYNC 4 infotainment system, which is said to feature the technology artificial intelligence, which will allow her to better interact with the driver.
SUV Ford will have three selectable driving modes: Whisper, Engaged and Unbridled. Things like the responsiveness of the steering wheel and accelerator pedal, as well as the car's interior lighting, sensor graphic design, and engine sound volume (artificially generated) will change depending on the selected mode. Of the interesting features, it should be noted that the Mach-E does not have traditional door handles, the doors open using electronic buttons.
Buyers will be offered 5 trim levels - Select, California RT. 1, Premium, First Edition and GT, ranging from $45000 to $61000. Premium and First Edition will be the first to go on sale, which will be presented in a limited edition at the end of 2020. Full-fledged car sales will start in 2021. But you can pre-order now.
