The network is actively discussing the competition launched by the manufacturer of household chemicals Domestos in the spring of 2021. The "School Program for Cleanliness and Safety" as a result became the subject of discussion of the quality of school toilets in the regions and generated thousands of angry comments on social networks.
According to the idea of the competition, school representatives were invited to send photos of toilets in need of repair. Domestos promised to pick a winner and renovate all bathrooms free of charge, as well as provide a year's supply of funds.
The photos uploaded to the competition website by the administrations of some educational institutions became publicly available, and after bloggers and journalists paid attention to them, they began to be widely discussed by users.
“Toilet in the style of a horror movie, children try to avoid”, “In 50 years there has never been a major overhaul”, etc.
The network commented on rusty pipes, the lack of booths, non-working bathrooms and the inconsistency of toilets with elementary sanitary standards. In turn, school representatives note that they are limited in funds and do not have the opportunity to repair toilets on their own.
Representatives of Domestos note that the program is not new, and in past years the company has already been engaged in the repair of toilets in Russian schools. To date, more than a hundred applications have been sent to the competition, voting for the worst object to be repaired as part of the competition is conducted on the website.
