McDonald's has announced the start of test sales of a new crispy chicken burger. A product called Crispy Chicken Sandwich appeared in restaurants located in Houston and Knoxville, Tennessee. The basis of the new sandwich is fried chicken fillet, followed by a fried potato bun, with the addition of butter and pickles. The deluxe version also includes tomatoes, lettuce and mayonnaise.

The National Association believes that the chicken burger should be their top priority amid growing competition with the Chick-fil-A fast food restaurant chain specializing in chicken meat sandwiches. The need to launch a new product on the menu was first reported back in 2018.
The menu of McDonald's, which traditionally relies on beef burgers, always includes McChicken and Chicken McNuggets. In the fall of 2019, the company also introduced the Spicy BBQ Chicken Sandwich for a limited time. But McDonald's biggest "chicken" campaign was in 2018, when the Ultimate Chicken Sandwich was served at more than 160 Washington State restaurants.
