It is interesting how some things that are not directly related to your life make you see the passage of time. Suddenly, what used to be a familiar background turns out to be the past. What irritated, caused ridicule, seemed boring, begins to go somewhere out of the present, and nostalgia appears in place of irritation. You feel a slight confusion, sadness, not even because everything is changing, but because it is changing so quickly, inevitably, ruthlessly. Strange, but most of all it is the distant, “foreign” events that catch on. Apparently, you have time to prepare for changes in your life, you think them over, they happen smoothly, continuously, and when some little thing changes in the general habitual background of life, and you also understand that behind this little thing there are more global changes, no matter for the better or for the worse, it becomes sad for some reason.
I got this kind of mood numerous rumors that the advertising campaign "Get a Mac" ceases to exist.
"Get a Mac" these are commercials Apple Computers, a series of which has earned many professional awards and wide resonance among the audience, however. not always positive. In the videos of these two guys, one is a Mac, the second is a PC (their greeting "I'ma Mac/I'ma PC" has already become a classic of advertising), they dive cutely, chat and, of course, advertise computers from Apple, contrasting them with devices under Microsoft (It is this fact that causes the bulk of negative assessments).
That PiSi broke his leg, because he got caught on the wire, and with Mac, of course, the wire itself is easily released from the case. Either PiSi sneezes and is afraid of viruses (in one of the latest videos he even puts on a spacesuit), and Mac emphasizes his elusiveness for network viruses (just like Elusive Joe from a joke). That PiSi constantly freezes in mid-sentence, “hangs”, but nothing like this happens with Mac, of course.
For me, the most interesting thing about these videos is that, for all their straightforwardness (this is still advertising Apple) and riskiness (all advertising is based on comparison with a competitor), they are ironic, and the hero of John Hodgman (John Hodgman), he plays PC, sometimes looks more interesting and funnier than Mac, he is played by Justin Long in the American version. For many viewers, Mac looks too pretentious and arrogant, compared to PC, a charming fat man in a suit. It is very difficult to find such a line, for example, when Microsoft filmed a response series of videos in which PiSi was a successful father, and Mac was a gouging son, this boundary was violated, the tone of these response videos was already more angry and unpleasant.
And now, it looks like there will be no further videos. It seems like a trifle, but a whole piece of reality has gone into the past, because these problems were so relevant. And now everything has changed. The last, in the bad sense of the word, series of videos was dedicated to the release of Windows 7 and it was released quite a long time ago, in October last year. Such a long break already makes you believe in the truth of the rumors.
In addition, constant references to Apple in the press, in connection with the entry into the market iPad, reduced her need for any additional advertising. This is exactly the case when the product advertises itself, and the company at the same time.
The situation with the two companies reminds me of a banal story when two boys are friends at school (they are friends like Cartman and Kyle from South Park, that is, such “worst friends”), and then they grow up and one breaks ahead and suddenly stops recognizing less successful. So for Apple the comparison with Microsoft, two funny characters from advertising are gone, forces have been redistributed, everything has become different. And I'm sad. And I'm over-dramatizing. And I'm exaggerating, of course.
