The fastest man on the planet, Usain Bolt, has decided to trademark his winning pose. This is a posture in which the runner stands in a wide stance, leaning back, bending the elbow and pointing to the sky.
Bolt first used his signature winning stance after running at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Since then, Usain has won several more honors at the Games, setting current records in the 100m, 200m and 400m relay with the Jamaican team.
The application filed for registration notes that “The silhouette of a man in a distinctive pose, with one arm bent and pointing to the head, and the other arm raised and pointing upward” is registered.
It is possible that a logo will be created based on the famous stance, which will be used as the iconic Jumpman silhouette or the SHAQ Dunkman logo.
In his application, Bolt indicated that the trademark could be used in jewelry, sunglasses, bags, apparel, sporting goods, and restaurants and sports bars.
Bolt is an eight-time Olympic champion and also the owner of 11 gold medals at the World Championships. For the name and high running speed, he received the nickname Lightning Bolt.
