State Grid Corporation of China is a Chinese power grid company founded in 2002 by decree of the State Council of the People's Republic of China. State Grid specializes in the construction and operation of electrical networks, while covering both China and some foreign countries, such as Brazil and the Philippines.
In 2011, the company took 7th place in the list of the largest companies in the world according to Fortune Global 500. In addition, State Grid is the largest in the world in comparison with other electric grid companies. State Grid is a monopoly in the field of transportation and sale of electricity in the domestic market of China.
