Sinopec Corp. is China's largest energy, chemical, and oil and gas company. It was founded in October 2000 and belongs to the China Petrochemical Corporation, which, in turn, is owned by the state.
The current president of the company is Wang Tianpu, and the chairman of the board of directors is Su Shulin. Su Shulin's predecessor, Chen Tonghai, was sentenced to death by a Beijing court in 2009 for accepting $29 million in bribes.
Shares of Sinopec Corp. in the amount of 16.78 billion immediately after its foundation were listed on the stock exchanges of Hong Kong, New York and London. A year later, additional shares worth 2.8 billion were sold in Shanghai.
