For the first time the institution accepts $APE as a means of payment.
The city of Long Beach, California opened its first restaurant, Bored & Hungry, a project of Andy Nguyen, also known for Afters Ice Cream, Matte Black Coffee, Pig Pen Delicacy and more, last weekend.
A few hours before the official opening, it was announced on Twitter that the establishment would accept ETH (Ethereum) as payment, but also $APE (ApeCoin). Thus, the restaurant became the first in the world to start accepting $APE.
The 160-square-meter Bored & Hungry restaurant will be open for three months as a pop-up project, supported by Trill Burgers and Beleaf Burgers. The main symbol of the new establishment is a monkey, which is the intellectual property of Nguyen.
With the restaurant opening, the businessman who owns the Bored Ape Yacht Club aims to show the community how NFT's marketing potential can be reflected in the real world.
It is reported that privileges will be open to NFT holders: for example, verified BAYC holders will receive a free set meal at the restaurant, and MAYC holders can count on free burgers.
"Our goal is to give back to the growing Web 3.0 community and open doors for those who want to learn more about this new Web 3/NFT world. Our goal is to educate the public about this new future world," commented Nguyen.
