Themed hotels will be opened in eight American cities, the design and entertainment of which will be dedicated to the legendary company in the world of video games.
Atari, creator of popular video games in the 70s and 80s, became one of the industry's pioneers and had a huge impact for the development of this area. Founded in 1972, the company actually created the market for computer games and game consoles. A number of factors led to its collapse, ranging from the frankly mediocre organization of all business processes to a whole series of mistakes made by management.
And although the brand still exists, today this name no longer has the same meaning for fans of computer games. Some time ago, the company intended to introduce a retro-style game console, but so far this has not been done. Now the once big name is planned to be used in the hotel business.
Under the license agreement, Atari assigns the rights to use its name and brand elements to the developer. Which, in turn, will build eight hotels in different US cities. There are plans to open new locations in Phoenix, Austin, Chicago, Denver, Las Vegas, San Francisco, San Jose and Seattle. Atari has already received a payment of $600,000 and will continue to receive 5% of hotel profits.
From the design of the building and hotel interiors to the entertainment for guests, everything in the new hotels will be reminiscent of Atari. The silhouette of the hotel building will be similar to the company's logo, and corporate identity elements will also be present in the design of rooms and common spaces. The hotels will have video game rooms that can host professional eSports competitions, as well as game zones with video game equipment where guests can play their favorite games. In addition, each hotel will be equipped with a swimming pool, gym, restaurants and cafes, as well as a cinema.
Today, when the computer games market has become a multibillion-dollar business, few people remember the Atari company that stood at its very beginnings. But who knows, maybe the legendary brand will be reborn in a completely different role.
