Manufacturer of professional data display systems. The company's displays, monitors and projectors are widely used in medical equipment, surveillance systems, measurement equipment, communication systems, etc.
The company was founded in 1983. Her parents were Jim Hurd, Chris King and John Laney. They acquired the rights to produce electroluminescent displays from the company Tektronix (which, according to some reports, was their former place of work). Thus, Planar Systems became the first American manufacturer to work in this field. The head office and factory of the company were located in Beaverton, Oregon (Beaverton, Oregon).
Affairs planar went well. In 1991, "European expansion" begins, factories appear in Finland (this was facilitated by the purchase of the company Finlux), France and Spain. The company is becoming a world leader. It no longer buys other people's technologies, but has its own (IndiSys, Clarity), obtained as a result of many independent studies. Now other companies are being bought (DOME Imaging Systems, AllBrite, Runco International…).
Today's Planar System is a company that includes several divisions with different activities: Commercial Business Unit, Control Room and Digital Signage Business Unit, Home Theater Business Unit, Industrial Business Unit (the scope of the division is clearly visible from its name).
Today, the company's headquarters is still located in Oregon, in Beaverton.
