The new generation of original smart speakers, created in partnership with Sonos, will hit the Swedish retailer on June 14th.
This will be the first update to the Symfonisk line since October 2019."IKEA" and Sonos started cooperation, which resulted in the appearance of the original device, which is a hybrid of a table lamp and a "smart" speaker, as well as a visually very simple model designed for shelf installation, with the ability to mount on the wall. Both speakers are fully compatible with the Sonos ecosystem, but are available at a lower cost than other solutions brand. A special application is used for control, but there is no support for smart assistants from Amazon or Google.
What will be the next generation of Symfonisk is still unknown. The most logical assumption seems to be that the company will again introduce a lamp and a bookshelf speaker. At the same time, the design will change somewhat and the technical component will improve. There is also an opinion that we can expect such an original product as a column built into a picture frame. Such a solution would fit perfectly into the IKEA concept, according to which Symfonisk devices are “great-sounding and great-looking pieces of furniture that fit into the interior in a new way and provide new opportunities for filling the house with music.”
The fact that the company is planning an event in which new columns will be presented became known by chance, there were no official announcements. The journalists of the Executive Traveler resource found out about this when they saw an event entitled "Symfonisk virtual press event" with the logos of the retailer and Sonos, scheduled for June 14th, in the IKEA promotional materials calendar. Subsequently, information about this event was removed. However, it is noted that IKEA has begun to reduce the stock of speakers in stores around the world.
Executive Traveler has reached out to IKEA and Sonos for comment. The answer was received only from the latter. And although it was rather vague, it still contained a hint of the possibility of the imminent appearance of new devices.
