World famous chocolate brand owned by Mondelēz International, formerly known as Kraft Food.
History of the Milka brand
It all started back in 1901, when Philip Suchard, the owner of a large confectionery factory in Switzerland, decided to introduce a fundamentally new kind of chocolate to the world. The novelty was distinguished by a high content of milk in the composition, as well as a very delicate taste. Another innovation was the color of the packaging, which was unusual for those times. However, it was lilac that ensured the success of the products at the beginning of the last century and continues to distinguish Milka from numerous competitors today.
The brand name has two versions of origin. According to the first, Milka is the result of a fusion of two German words for milk and cocoa ("Milch" and "Kakao"). According to the second, the product was named after Milka Ternina, a popular Croatian singer at that time and Philip Suchard's favorite performer. Which of the options is closer to the truth is unknown, since none of them has yet been confirmed or refuted.

Cow Milka unusual lilac-white colors - the brand's mascot - should also be mentioned. This character first appeared on the packaging of the very first tiles, but only began to be used as an official emblem in 1972. At first it was an image of an ordinary white cow on a lilac background, and colored spots were added much later. An interesting fact about the brand and its talisman: the white cows used in commercials are tinted with a special, harmless, quickly washed off paint.
Advertising campaigns of the company are one of the factors of success and popularity of chocolate. Landscapes in the videos include all the attributes of a natural and environmentally friendly product: green lush grass, crystal clear streams, bright sun and alpine meadows against a blue cloudless sky. In addition to traditional cows in modern advertising, you can see people and various anthropomorphic animals - bears, marmots, moles. The commercials are very effective and do their job well, encouraging them to buy the product at the first opportunity.
Milka brand today
Nowadays, Milka is a chocolate that has gained worldwide fame and is sold everywhere. It is now produced not only in Switzerland, so the inscription that this is a Swiss product has long disappeared from the packaging. Since 1990, the name of the creator is no longer written on it, since then the brand was bought out by Kraft Food.
Milka's annual production of different types of chocolate is now more than 100,000 tons.
